Welcome to the Local Cheese CSA
Our mission here at Family Farm Creameries is to support local farmstead dairy producers by sharing their products with the greater communtiy. We carry lots of local milks, cheeses, yogurts and even ice creams at our store in the Pittsburgh Public Market and at pop-up farm markets throughout Pittsburgh.
If you're reading this blog, you're probably here to learn about our awesome, locally produced cow and goat cheeses - and it's likely that you were sent here by Katie Schwarz of Clarion River Organics (CRO)! We supply the cheeses for CRO's weekly Community Supported Agriculture program (CSA). CRO's CSA subscription is a great way to learn about and try a healthy array of both traditional and unusual local produce. If you're not already a CSA shareholder, click on over to www.ClarionRiverOrganics.com or call Katie at 412-589-9276 for more info!
THIS WEEK's CSA SELECTION:
For Week #1 of the CRO CSA, we chose Pasture Maid Creamery's "Kiss of Kerry" - a tangy cheddar that was produced in New Castle, Pennsylvania. This Irish-style farmhouse cheddar is named after the rare Kerry cows who help to make it.
Try "Kiss of Kerry" melted onto hamburgers, tuck it into your favorite macaroni and cheese dish or slice and serve it on a cheese platter. Aged for over 60 days and made without synthetic hormones or antibiotics, this cheddar cheese is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
If you'd like to share YOUR experience with "Kiss of Kerry" or have questions about our cheese selections, please feel free to email me at Megan@FamilyFarmsCreamery.com.
