Frew Mill Fire
"Frew Mill Fire" is a young, hot pepper Colby made by farmer/cheesemaker extraordinaire Adam Dean of Pasture Maid Creamery in New Castle, Pennsylvania.
A popular selection among market patrons, this hot pepper version of "Meadow Delight" is soft and mild at its base - a great melter and snacking cheese - and the addition of red and green jalapeños give it a nicely balanced kick!
This picnic season, try switching out traditional cheeses in cold pasta salads, baked macaroni dishes or cheeseburgers for this spicy alternative. "Frew Mill Fire" is can also be a hot and melty addition to scrambled eggs or omelettes.
Fun Fact: The "Frew Mill" namesake comes from a road that winds along the Slippery Rock Creek near Pasture Maid Creamery. The creek (or "crick" if your from Northwestern PA) once hosted two mills, one for grain and feed and one for lumber processing.
